If levers are to your taste may I recommend the Marlin Model 39 or 39A. For big box store, good value guns, it's hard to beat the Marlin Model 60. If you are looking for a bolt gun it seems fewer tube fed models are around anymore but I believe Marlin makes one (Model 981T or TS) in a less expensive bolt action model.
