Sep 11, 2018 · To begin with, Palancar is broken into 5 different dive sites. Additionally, most these dive sites have a maximum depth of 100 feet/30 meters (or deeper). Indeed, the best part of these dives lies somewhere between 70 feet/21 meters and 40 feet/12 meters. As a bonus, the top of the reef ranges from 30 feet/10 meters to 20 feet/7 meters. Took a taxi to Playa Palancar. ($25 each way). Waited until the dive boats went out and there were enough people for snorkeling. Boat took us to the reef and then drifted with us, so you didn't have to fight the current back. First El Cielo reef: huge starfish, a ray. very little coral. But then we went to Columbia reef: wow! Now, it's $35-45 for entry. With that, you do get an umbrella, and a very limited number of selected food and drink, but, for the price, I suggest hitting one of the all inclusive beach clubs that are actually closer to town.
